Anthropic recently did something unusual: it created, but did not release, one of its most powerful artificial intelligence models. Known as Mythos, the advanced large language model (LLM) has been kept out of general availability and restricted to a small circle of trusted organizations. The reason? Cybersecurity concerns.
When the people building frontier AI are cautious about what their own technology can do in the wrong hands, the rest of the market should take note.
That caution marks an inflection point. For most of the past decade, AI in cybersecurity meant better defense — faster threat detection, automated response, and smarter anomaly analysis. That hasn’t changed, but the equation now runs both ways.
The same capabilities that identify an intrusion or data exfiltration can be used to engineer one. AI can write and adapt malicious code, scale social engineering attacks, probe defenses, and surface vulnerabilities at a pace no human team can match. AI is becoming more powerful at protecting data and, at the same time, more powerful at compromising it.
Why Businesses Must Rethink Their Security Posture
For businesses, the implications are significant. Security strategies built for yesterday’s threat models were never designed for adversaries operating at machine speed. Postures, investments, and operational playbooks all require reexamination.
Defenses that were adequate a year ago may already be exposed, and the window for adaptation is shrinking. Organizations can no longer treat cybersecurity as a periodic upgrade; it is becoming a continuous race against increasingly fast and ubiquitous opponents.
Few companies run that race alone. Partner enablement and engagement are now security capabilities. When threats evolve in real time, the vendors that win are those whose partners can move with them at speed, onboarding new solutions, completing certifications, registering deals, and reaching customers without administrative drag.
A security vendor with a slow, cumbersome partner program is, in effect, slowing the very response its customers depend on.
Of course, technology alone cannot solve this. Strong partner relationships still rest on trust, planning, and human expertise. But friction in partner systems translates directly into delays in the field — and delay is precisely what an AI-accelerated threat landscape will not forgive.
That is the connection between modern channel management automation and cybersecurity. It is no longer enough to give partners access to information and resources. Vendors must adopt streamlined programs, workflows, and systems that allow partners to find and act on information as quickly as attackers using AI.
Partner relationship management (PRM) systems, the nerve center of partner communications and enablement, are increasingly using artificial intelligence to make partners’ access to information and support easier and faster. The intelligence built into PRMs helps vendors not only respond to partner and customer needs, but anticipate them, turning the partner ecosystem into a fast, coordinated extension of the security mission.

The arrival of models powerful enough to give their own creators pause is a preview of what’s coming. Security vendors that treat partner enablement as back-office administration will find themselves a step behind a threat that does not wait.
Those that build responsive, intelligent partner ecosystems — capable of anticipating customer needs and mobilizing partners at speed — will be the ones customers trust to keep them secure. In a market where AI can both defend and attack, the ability to move faster than the threat may prove to be the most valuable security asset of all.
It starts with wringing out complexity from program designs, unclogging processes and workflows, and automating engagement through AI-enabled PRM systems. This is the foundation of the next era of cybersecurity in the channel.
